Default Question about mapping

In order to get the Monastary Overlook area mapped out (as shown in some jpg I saw with 100% completion), do you need to do the pointless training session in the beginning?

i hope not- i know you can get .7 or .8 from it but tyrian characters arent able to access that area ..... soooooooo .... my guess is that yes it helps, but maybe theres enough "freebie" area like their is in tyria to get 100% without it.

Its debateable if your need to map the Monastary Overlook area and the Monastary Arena (Level10) for 100% of Cathan.

I've heared some Tyria people have 100% without them, but I'm not sure of this, no proof so far.

Yeah, I took that into consideration shortly after posting this. If Tyria characters can get 100% then you wouldn't have to go there at all.

Another thing I'm wondering about is if they leave a margin of error, say around 1%.

There is absolute proof that it can be done. Check the Canthan Explorer League forum and look at this thread:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3042517

You will find links to at least two 100% completed Canthan maps by Tyrian characters (Thanks TC Fish and Leighwyn) Neither of these maps have the monestary area. You will also find several other posters including myself who have both the Tyrian and Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer titles.

Hope this helps.

BTW -Mods: Shouldn't this thread really be in the Canthan Explorers League?
